International Youth Exchange
&
Youth Camp Program
Lions clubs can sponsor young people, ages 15-21, for participation
in the Lions International Youth Exchange Program. Since the
program’s inception in 1961, thousands of Lions youth exchangees
have traveled to other countries, lived with Lions-sponsored host
families, and experienced another culture first hand. Lions youth
exchangees fulfill the First Lions Object:
to create and foster
a spirit of understanding
among the
peoples of the world.
The Lions of Sweden organized the first Lions International Youth
Camp in 1974. Since then, Lions clubs all over the world have
invited young people, ages 16-22, to their countries to attend Lions
youth camps as a means of fostering international understanding.
Every year, Lions clubs, districts, and multiple districts host
about 100 Lions International Youth Camps in about 40 countries.
Some camps are held in rural settings while others occur in urban
settings, in college dormitories, or even on sailboats!
For information about sponsoring or hosting a young person, contact
your district chairperson.
MD-1 is looking for young persons, ages 16-21, for participation
in the Lions International Youth Exchange Program. Thousands of
young people have spent four to six weeks as Lions-sponsored exchangees.
They have experienced another culture as they have fostered "international
understanding among the peoples of the world".
MD -1 is also looking for host families.
